Yep, looks like my kind of place. I still love the name Mudge pond!
Thats not even the prettiest part of Mudge Pond (also called Silver Lake). Thats our very nice town beach.
My Dad, along with many of the other gents of the town "built" this beach out of swamp. Trees were cut and stumps dynamited away; a farmer's harrow was hauled out into the water suspended between two rowboats, dumped over-side and then towed to the beach by long rope and tractor to remove the weeds from the bottom. The grand opening was celebrated in a town parade with a beach scene on a long flatbed trailer with the local bathing beauties aboard! Lots of history and memories....
